Stepping Out to Find a Good Dance Club

Been going out to find a good dance club the past couple of weeks with my wife & some friends. Well there always good & bad. So I'll tell you about them all. Went to the Dublin Deck last week they had a great band "That's 70's" eight or 9 piece, brass section, extra vocalist a really top shelf copy band.

They played great dance music. The Dublin Deck has a cool layout with faux Palms all around nice layout and a couple bars indoor & outdoor and a cool crowd 30's + mostly. The bartenders make a nice drink. They have a $10 cover and is fine as long as the music is good and of course it was. The dance area outside is small but adequate since much more listeners than dancers. Valet parking is required a bit of a pain as you have to wait in line and of course hand out a few bucks for the unwanted service, rather park my own, as when I leave I have to wait again.

Well went out last night things were quite different all around. First we checked to see what was gong on and the Dublin Deck told us that they set up a tent for the band to play under. So the six us traveled from Center Moriches, as the band is worth the drive, only to get there to an empty lot & still having to deal with the Valet parking, six guys standing around, no line this time. We get to where the collect the cover and the guys are pleasent and just let us by without the cover. So we get in and find out the they canceled the band. Ok not so bad, so we here that the Liki Tiki bar has a band tonight and is also on River road in Patchoque, almost within walking distance but the rain is just starting. Its now around 9:30 & we pull up to the place, tiny sign & easy to miss. Valet parking is required here to but since its raining it was welcome. Before handing over the keys we asked the Valet if the band was playing, he told us not yet but they would when the rain stopped. We asked if there was any cover and he told us it was $10 and if the band didn't play they would be giving a refund. Sounds fair, well after going in to the covered bar area with everyone trying to get cover from the rain it was elbow to elbow. They had descent music coming from the PA system so I ordered two drinks of which the barmaid screwed up royally. First the barmaid after making the first drink threw it out with out me saying anything as she saw I was watching. She then made another drink, a seabreeze, the way she thought it should be made, could haven'tbeen worse off if I had the first one she threw out. The second drink, which she had to ask again what it was, a stoli w/a splash of selzer, after one shot of stoli she proceeded to fill the glass with selzer, as the hand laid on the trigger I tried to get her attention but it was to late . Down the drain with another drink. The next one still a single shot with a splash, weak drink for $7 but she got the splash right. After a hour it was evident that the band wasn't going to play so we asked who we were told was a part owner for the refund. He blew right by us with a smirt and a shake of the head, no refund. In the meantime one of our friends made the mistake of using the ATM at the bar only to be shorted $40 he went to the same guy who we thought was a part owner and he made good. I'd think otherwise about using that ATM after a few drinks. Well after another 1/2 hour of good conversation with our group the owner came by with a raincheck for my wife & I but no one else in my group. Still no band, not that I expected it, rain pretty heavy and things getting steamy inside. You had to walk out in the rain to get to the ladies room as well as in the rain to get to the valet, no portico here. We made our exit and left the Liki teaky Bar maybe to return on a dry night.
